Nana's Smartie Cookies

These are the best smartie cookies ever!
Nana's Smartie Cookies

total time:60 mins

Ingredients

1/2 cup Shortening
1/2 cup Margine or butter, softened
3/4 cup Firmly packed brown sugar
1 Egg
2 Tbsp Vanilla
1 3/4 cup All purpose flour
1 tsp Baking soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1 1/2 cup Smarties
1/2 cup Sunflower seeds


Directions

Heat oven to 350.

In large bowl, combine shortening, marg (or butter), sugar, egg and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Stir in flour, soda and salt. Add 1 cup of Smarties and the sunflower seeds, mix well.

Drop dough on a greased pan. Don't place too close to each other. Press in remaining Smarties.

Put cookies in oven and turn it down to 325 and bake for 20 mins or until golden.


History

Nana always used to make these for us when we were young, brings back great memories of spending time with them and my cousins.
